What should you bear in mind?
To sign up for natural gas supply, you need to consider certain factors:

- RATE T1: Usage up to 5,000 kWh/year. This is the most usual rate if you only use gas for hot water.
- RATE T2: Usage between 5,000 kWh/year and 50,000 kWh/year. This is the most usual rate if you use gas for hot water and heating.
- RATE 3.3: Usage between 50,000 kWh/year and 100,000 kWh/year. This is the most usual rate if you use gas for hot water and heating in a very large home with heated swimming pool.
- RATE 3.4: Usage between 100,000 kWh/year and 3 GWh/year. This is the most usual rate if you use gas for hot water and heating in a very large home with heated swimming pool and high gas usage.
- T.1 for usage up to 5,000 kWh/year. This usage range is usually found in homes with a natural gas stove and/or water heater.
- T.2 for usage over 5,000 kWh/year and up to 50,000 kWh/year. This usage range is usually found in homes with natural gas heating.

Required documentation
The documents set out below are required in order to sign up for a home gas supply. If you sign up with Iberdrola, you must submit them to us, except in the Basque Country, where they must be submitted to the distribution company:
- Copy of the individual gas receiving installation certificate. If supply has been suspended for less than one year, you can provide the previous installation's certificate. Otherwise, you need to apply for a new certificate.
- Copy of the thermal installation certificate, if there is a heating installation.
- Copy of the common gas receiving installation certificate, where applicable (first gas registration in a residents' association or single-family housing development).
- Copy of the first occupancy permit or opening licence if it is required for signing up for the supply.
- Individual gas receiving installation certificate.
- Thermal installation certificate, if there is a heating installation.
- Common gas receiving installation certificate, where applicable. First occupancy permit, if it is required in the area.
Sign-up cost
When you sign up for a supply, two things can happen:
- You do not have a natural gas installation, so you will require service connection, sign-up, mains connection and inspection charges.
- You already have a natural gas installation, but with no supply, so there is no need for service connection.
If you have a natural gas installation, but with no supply, you will have to bear in mind:
The sign-up charge is paid only in the case of a new supply or extension of an existing supply. This sign-up charge is a cash consideration that the natural gas distribution companies charge when consumers sign up for the natural gas supply service.
If you do not have a natural gas installation, , you will also need a service connection. The service connection includes all the installations intended for supplying piped gas to one or more users.
The service connection is applied for by the natural or legal person who needs a new gas supply point or an extension of the existing supply point, whether this person will be the end consumer or not. Therefore, the developer/builder or the consumer can apply for the service connection.
The cost of the sign-up, mains connection and inspection charges varies depending on the distribution company and the autonomous region where the supply point is located.
Mains connection means connecting the customer's receiving installation to the distribution company's grid. The distribution company can decide not to charge for mains connection, but in that case it must apply the exemption to all the consumers in its supply area.
If you do not have a natural gas installation, you will also need a service connection.
The service connection includes all the installations intended for supplying piped gas to one or more users.
The service connection is applied for by the natural or legal person who needs a new gas supply point or an extension of the existing supply point, whether this person will be the end consumer or not. Therefore, the developer/builder or the consumer can apply for the service connection.
The cost of the sign-up, mains connection and inspection charges varies depending on the distribution company and the autonomous region where the supply point is located.
Installation inspection involves testing and checking the installations in order to determine whether they meet the regulatory technical and safety conditions. The supplier can decide not to charge for the inspection, but in that case it must apply the exemption to all the consumers in its supply area.
Inspection charges need not be paid:
- If a report from an authorised gas installer had to be submitted.
- If a project and the work completion certificate had to be submitted for executing the installation.
